Junior Conservatory Dance
The Junior Conservatory Dance Arts department includes a Dance Fundamentals class for students who want to learn beginning dance technique. Students develop muscle tone, flexibility, proper dance alignment, technical strength, and performance ability. They are introduced to a variety of dance styles including jazz, ballet, world dance, and contemporary. For students who have advanced beyond the level of Dance Fundamentals, the Dance Workshop class will expand the knowledge of dance styles, including jazz, ballet, partnering, world dance, hip hop, and contemporary. Students in both classes have the opportunty to perform in both the Christmas Dance Show and a Spring Dance Concert, and will be introduced to the art of choreography. For students interested in the “Sport of the Arts,” a Color Guard class is for students interested in live performance of dance and using movement, choreography, flags, and costumes. Color Guard competes in the California Color Guard circuit in the Bay Area during the winter and spring. Additional performance opportunities for all dance groups include community performances, chapel, and the Festival of the Arts.
