AMSE INSTITUTE

Valley Christian Schools’ STEM program, the Applied Math, Science, and Engineering (AMSE) Institute, provides K-12 students with a pipeline of inspiration, instruction, and experiences to fuel their passion for knowledge. With outstanding faculty, world-class facilities, and one-of-a-kind opportunities, AMSE strives to live out its mission to prepare the next generation of Christian STEM innovators.

FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT

It is my privilege to lead a program where students are at the center of innovation, experiential learning, collaboration, and creativity. The AMSE Institute brings the fields of science, technology, math, and engineering to life and empowers students to pursue their passions, as curiosity aligns with opportunities in the world of STEM.

I believe that every student has the potential to discover their God-given gifts and talents, and to hear and act on what God is directing them to do. The AMSE Institute offers a training ground where students not only discover and learn, but hear and apply this knowledge to their lives and the world at large. In the words of George Washington Carver, “I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour if we will only tune in.” I invite you to join us on this journey of personal and academic discovery where students explore unique programs that provide a pathway for our future scientists and engineers of tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Danny Kim
Vice President & Senior Director, K-12 AMSE Institute

DISCOVER AMSE

Discover AMSE is the elementary branch of the AMSE Institute and introduces young learners to the world of math, science, and engineering. In addition to offering engaging science curriculum and individualized, web-based math programs, Discover AMSE provides a variety of school-day and after-school offerings to spark interest and lay the foundation for future success. With K-12 programs like Hydroponics and Quest for Space and clubs such as robotics, chess, and coding, students can pursue their areas of interest and discover what the world of AMSE is all about.

JUNIOR AMSE

Junior AMSE provides junior high students with incredible facilities, outstanding curriculum, and unique opportunities to inspire future mathematicians, scientists, doctors, and engineers, all while preparing them for our high school AMSE program. From the competitive robotics team to the agriculture club, Junior AMSE offers a variety of hands-on classes, programs, and clubs, and even gives students the opportunity to complete high-school-level courses while in junior high.

AMSE INSTITUTE

The AMSE Institute provides VCHS students with a pipeline of inspiration, instruction, and experiences to empower them to become successful innovators and world changers. Students receive unique training from industry professionals and gain real-world experience using 21st century skills. TESTIMONIALS

"I love the AMSE Institute because it’s given me many opportunities to expand my knowledge, not just on software and coding, but also on teamwork. It’s helped me realize that teamwork and collaborating with a group of people is not just about talking with them, or going to work, or doing a club after school every day. It’s about building friendships. And that’s what makes being on an AMSE team something special."  - Jaylene B., Class of 2020, ISS Program

"The AMSE Institute has benefited me in my growth as a person. Not only am I able to learn advanced skills and attend prestigious events and opportunities, but I am able to meet new people who have different perspectives. This helped me get involved with other aspects of the school, and learn new ways to problem solve. AMSE has helped me learn engineering and life skills."  - Erik Y. Class of 2020, ISS Program

"As part of the very first Junior High ISS Team that launched an experiment into space and the Rocketry Team in high school, my AMSE experience made engineering accessible. Things I thought I would only have exposure to in college were available to me during my high school years. I was able to learn things while doing them, like programing and soldering, and have been able to get myself ahead in college. It also helped me know how to work with a team, managing not only the book smarts, but also the social side of working together with others." -Daryan Q. Class of 2018, Rocketry, ISS Program, Cal Poly Student
